What you will do

• Case Management: Manage a varied caseload including Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children cases.
• Assessments: Undertake comprehensive statutory assessments and develop child-centred care and support plans.
• Safeguarding: Lead safeguarding enquiries, risk assessments, and interventions to ensure children remain safe and protected.
• Care Planning: Develop, implement, and review plans that promote positive outcomes and long-term stability for children and families.
• Multi-Agency Working: Build strong working relationships with schools, health professionals, police, and other partner agencies.
• Mentoring and Leadership: Provide guidance, support, and mentoring to less experienced social workers and colleagues.
• Court Work: Prepare high-quality court statements, reports, and assessments to support legal proceedings and permanency planning.
• Advocacy: Ensure the wishes, feelings, and best interests of children remain central to all decision-making processes.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, timely, and professional case records in line with statutory and organisational requirements.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Social Work Qualification: Degree in Social Work or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registration: Current Social Work England registration.
• Experience: Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.
• Legislative Knowledge: Strong understanding of the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and relevant statutory guidance.
• Safeguarding Expertise: Proven experience managing child protection and safeguarding cases.
• Assessment Skills: Ability to undertake complex assessments and formulate effective care plans.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal, written, analytical, and report-writing abilities.
• Leadership Skills: Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising colleagues within a social work environment.
