What you will do
- Chair Initial Child Protection Conferences, Review Child Protection Conferences, and other statutory safeguarding meetings according to national guidance and local procedures.
- Independently review and evaluate safeguarding plans to ensure risks are appropriately identified, managed, and reduced.
- Provide professional challenge when practice standards, decision-making, or safeguarding arrangements require enhancement.
- Ensure the views, wishes, and lived experiences of children and families are effectively represented within conferences and planning processes.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work, CQSW, DipSW, or an equivalent recognised social work qualification.
- Registration with Social Work England.
- Evidence of ongoing professional development in safeguarding and child protection practice.
Registration & Compliance
- Current Social Work England registration.
Experience
- Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.
- Extensive experience managing or overseeing Child Protection and Child in Need cases.
- Previous experience as an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO), Child Protection Chair, or senior safeguarding practitioner.
