Senior Youth Justice Officer
Location: Hybrid working – Sand Martin House, 49 Lincoln Road, or from home
Pay: £33 - £35 per hour (depending on experience)
Hours: 37 per week
Seven Resourcing is looking for a Senior Youth Justice Officer to join the Targeted Support Service within Children’s Social Care. This role involves managing cases of children and young people in or at risk of entering the Youth Justice System, taking a lead professional role where appropriate, and supporting service development across the Youth Justice Service.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of young people in line with National Standards for Youth Justice, legislation, and local policies.
- Undertake assessments of risk of re-offending, risk of serious harm, and safeguarding concerns using the AssetPlus framework.
- Prepare high-quality pre-sentence reports, referral order reports, parenting assessments, and other documentation for courts and partner agencies.
- Deliver and co-ordinate interventions focused on reducing offending, safeguarding, and promoting positive outcomes for young people.
- Adopt a whole-family approach and lead contextual safeguarding plans where appropriate.
- Work in partnership with other agencies including Police, Probation, schools, mental health services, and substance misuse professionals.
- Mentor, support, and supervise staff and students, including assisting with inductions and training.
- Attend courts to present reports, prosecute breaches, and advise the judiciary.
- Contribute to service development, performance improvement, and multi-agency practice.
Requirements
- Recognised professional qualification in Social Work, Probation, or Youth Justice, with substantial relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of youth justice legislation, safeguarding, child development, and effective interventions with young people.
- Proven experience managing caseloads, undertaking assessments, and leading on risk management.
- Experience in multi-agency working and preparing professional reports.
- Full UK driving licence with business insurance.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and occasional Bank Holiday court duties.
