What you will do:
- Manage a caseload of looked after children and young people, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice guidance.
- Undertake essential statutory visits, assessments, and reviews to safeguard children and address their welfare needs.
- Develop and implement care plans aimed at promoting stability, permanence, education, health, and emotional wellbeing.
- Collaborate closely with a wide range of professionals including foster carers, residential providers, schools, and health professionals to support and achieve positive outcomes for children.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the daily operation of the Assessment Team, ensuring effective allocation and oversight of referrals and assessments.
- Provide reflective supervision, professional support and performance management to social workers, senior practitioners and newly qualified social workers.
- Oversee Child and Family Assessments, Section 17 Child in Need work and Section 47 Child Protection enquiries, ensuring robust decision-making and risk management.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, local safeguarding procedures and service performance standards.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Degree in Social Work or recognised equivalent qualification.
- Current registration with Social Work England.
- Management qualification or leadership training is desirable.
- Evidence of continuing professional development in children's safeguarding and social work leadership.
Registration & Compliance
- Registered with Social Work England.
