What you will do:

  • Manage a caseload of looked after children and young people, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practice guidance.
  • Undertake essential statutory visits, assessments, and reviews to safeguard children and address their welfare needs.
  • Develop and implement care plans aimed at promoting stability, permanence, education, health, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Collaborate closely with a wide range of professionals including foster carers, residential providers, schools, and health professionals to support and achieve positive outcomes for children.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the daily operation of the Assessment Team, ensuring effective allocation and oversight of referrals and assessments.
  • Provide reflective supervision, professional support and performance management to social workers, senior practitioners and newly qualified social workers.
  • Oversee Child and Family Assessments, Section 17 Child in Need work and Section 47 Child Protection enquiries, ensuring robust decision-making and risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, local safeguarding procedures and service performance standards.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work or recognised equivalent qualification.
  • Current registration with Social Work England.
  • Management qualification or leadership training is desirable.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in children's safeguarding and social work leadership.

Registration & Compliance

  • Registered with Social Work England.
