What you will do:

  • Manage a complex caseload of adults with mental health needs, ensuring timely and effective interventions.

  • Undertake strengths-based assessments, reviews, and care planning in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice.

  • Lead, supervise, mentor, and support less experienced Social Workers and Social Care Coordinators.

  • Provide supervision in line with professional and regulatory requirements, promoting continuous professional development.

  • Offer professional advice and guidance on complex cases and deputise for the Assistant Team Manager or Team Manager when required.

  • Promote anti-discriminatory practice, equality, inclusion, and social justice throughout all aspects of service delivery.

  • Undertake safeguarding enquiries and make informed decisions to protect adults at risk.

  • Work collaboratively with health professionals, mental health services, housing providers, carers, and partner agencies.

  • Chair and facilitate meetings, reviews, and multidisciplinary discussions to support positive outcomes.

  • Contribute to resource management and ensure effective use of available services and support.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records in line with organisational and statutory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Mental Capacity Act principles, safeguarding procedures, and local authority policies.

  • Participate in supervision, training, and service improvement initiatives to support high-quality practice.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.

  • Current Social Work England registration.

  • Significant experience within Adult Social Care and/or Mental Health Services.

  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Mental Health legislation, and safeguarding procedures.

  • Experience managing complex caseloads and undertaking safeguarding enquiries.

  • Strong leadership, supervision, and mentoring skills.

  • Excellent communication, assessment, analytical, and decision-making abilities.

  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
