What you will do:

  • Provide Occupational Therapy assessments and interventions within an acute medicine ward setting.

  • Assess and treat acute inpatients, focusing on functional ability, independence, and rehabilitation needs.

  • Develop person-centred treatment plans to maximise recovery and promote safe discharge outcomes.

  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated and effective patient care.

  • Facilitate discharge planning activities to support patient flow and reduce unnecessary delays.

  • Assess environmental, functional, and equipment needs to support safe transitions from hospital.

  • Manage and prioritise a diverse caseload, ensuring timely and effective interventions.

  • Provide advice, education, and support to patients, families, and carers.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records in line with professional standards and organisational policies.

  • Contribute to service improvement initiatives and support the delivery of high-quality Occupational Therapy services.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Therapy.

  • Current HCPC registration.

  • Previous experience working within acute inpatient settings, particularly Acute Medicine services.

  • Experience supporting discharge planning and hospital flow initiatives.

  • Minimum of six months' recent NHS experience within the UK.

  • Strong assessment, rehabilitation, and clinical reasoning skills.

  • Excellent communication and multidisciplinary working abilities.

  • Ability to manage a varied caseload effectively within a fast-paced environment.
