Role overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Social Worker to join the Fostering Team in Medway. This ongoing locum role offers a competitive hourly rate of £38.00, alongside flexible part-time or full-time working options.
You will play a key role in the assessment, supervision, and support of foster carers, ensuring safe, stable, and high-quality placements for looked after children. The post is central to promoting placement stability, safeguarding, and positive outcomes for children and young people, in line with fostering legislation, statutory guidance, and best practice.

What you will do

Undertake Form F assessments of prospective foster carers in line with statutory requirements and Medway Council policies.

Provide regular supervision, professional support, and guidance to approved foster carers.

Complete annual foster carer reviews and contribute to fostering panel processes.

Support foster carers in meeting the needs of children with complex emotional, behavioural, and health needs.

Promote the safeguarding and welfare of looked after children placed in foster care.

Identify and manage risk, including responding to allegations, standards of care concerns, and safeguarding issues.

Ensure compliance with the Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards.

Prepare high-quality reports for fostering panels, reviews, and court proceedings where required.

Work collaboratively with children’s social workers, health, education, and partner agencies.

Contribute to placement planning meetings, looked after child reviews, and professionals’ meetings.

Provide advice and consultation to colleagues regarding fostering placements.

Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant case records.

Work in accordance with Social Work England professional standards.

Participate in supervision, training, service development, and quality improvement activity.
