What you will do:
Practice Leadership and Quality Assurance:

Provide professional leadership to social workers within the Assessment Team.

Promote excellent assessment practice aligned with Working Together to Safeguard Children.

Lead on practice standards, reflective supervision, and professional decision-making.

Oversee quality assurance processes, including audits, case reviews, and learning reviews.
Service Development and Improvement:

Drive service improvement through analysis of performance data, audits, and feedback.

Embed evidence-based and strengths-based practice models.

Lead on practice development initiatives and learning from serious incidents or reviews.

Support the implementation of new policies, procedures, and practice frameworks.
Safeguarding and Threshold Management:

Ensure timely, proportionate, and defensible decision-making at the front door.

Provide oversight of safeguarding thresholds and assessment pathways.

Offer expert consultation on complex, high-risk cases.

Ensure compliance with statutory duties under the Children Act 1989/2004.
Workforce Development and Supervision:

Support recruitment, retention, and development of social work staff.

Lead on ASYE support, mentoring, and progression pathways.

Promote staff wellbeing, reflective practice, and a learning culture.

Work closely with team managers to strengthen supervision quality.
Multi-Agency and Strategic Working:

Represent children’s social care at strategic and partnership forums.

Work collaboratively with health, education, police, and early help services.

Contribute to Local Safeguarding Children Partnership (LSCP) priorities.

Support effective multi-agency information sharing and joint decision-making.
Governance and Compliance:

Ensure compliance with legislation, statutory guidance, and inspection frameworks (e.g. Ofsted ILACS).

Support preparation for inspections and external reviews.

Contribute to reports for senior leadership and elected members.
