What you will do

  • Deliver high‑quality assessments, planning, reviews, and case management in line with statutory and professional standards for Children in Need, Children with Disabilities, and fostering cases.
  • Undertake specialist assessments in complex and high‑risk situations.
  • Provide expert analysis and professional judgement regarding children’s needs, risks, and protective factors to improve practice standards.
  • Collaborate with and challenge partner professionals to ensure children receive effective and timely support.
  • Prepare and present expert reports and evidence to panels and courts.
  • Share specialist knowledge to strengthen team effectiveness and contribute to service development.
  • Advocate for children and young people’s participation in service planning and development.
  • Lead workforce development activity and support organisational learning.
  • Champion effective information‑sharing in line with relevant legislation, policies, and protocols.
  • Promote anti‑discriminatory and inclusive practice, ensuring individual needs remain central to service delivery.
  • Maintain high‑quality case records and promote best practice across the service.
  • Use supervision for reflective practice and contribute to continuous team and service improvement.
  • Mentor and support less experienced social workers and students on placement.
  • Manage complex workloads independently, recognising when additional support is required.
