What you will do:

• Manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring high-quality statutory social work services are delivered in line with local authority policies and procedures.

• Undertake statutory visits, assessments, reviews, and care planning activities to ensure children's needs remain central to all decisions.

• Develop and implement child-centred care plans that promote safety, wellbeing, stability, and positive outcomes.

• Promote permanence planning through reunification, long-term fostering, adoption, special guardianship, or preparation for independence where appropriate.

• Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, young people, families, and carers to encourage active participation in care planning.

• Prepare high-quality assessments, court reports, care plans, and professional statements.

• Work collaboratively with foster carers, schools, health professionals, and other partner agencies to deliver coordinated support.

• Identify safeguarding concerns, undertake risk assessments, and implement effective risk management strategies.

• Support children and young people to access education, health services, emotional wellbeing support, and community resources.

• Promote diversity, equality, inclusion, and respect for cultural identity in all aspects of practice.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records using the council's electronic recording systems.

• Participate in supervision, team meetings, training, and continuous professional development activities.
