What you will do:

Manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring high-quality statutory social work services are delivered in line with local authority policies and procedures.

Undertake statutory visits, assessments, reviews, and care planning activities to ensure children's needs remain central to all decisions.

Develop and implement child-centred care plans that promote safety, wellbeing, stability, and positive outcomes.

Promote permanence planning through reunification, long-term fostering, adoption, special guardianship, or preparation for independence where appropriate.

Establish and maintain positive relationships with children, young people, families, and carers to encourage active participation in care planning.

Prepare high-quality assessments, court reports, care plans, and professional statements.

Work collaboratively with foster carers, schools, health professionals, and other partner agencies to deliver coordinated support.

Identify safeguarding concerns, undertake risk assessments, and implement effective risk management strategies.

Support children and young people to access education, health services, emotional wellbeing support, and community resources.

Promote diversity, equality, inclusion, and respect for cultural identity in all aspects of practice.

Maintain accurate, timely, and comprehensive case records using the council's electronic recording systems.

Participate in supervision, team meetings, training, and continuous professional development activities.
