What you will do:
- Oversee Devon County Council’s tribunal appeal processes concerning statutory decisions for children and young people with special educational needs.
- Maintain and update systems to support individual appeals and the statutory appeal processes.
- Manage, prepare for, and represent the Council through the appeal process as set by SENDIST, ensuring adherence to nationally prescribed guidelines.
- Ensure the Authority meets its statutory duties under relevant acts such as the Education Act 1996 and the Children and Families Act 2014.
- Lead and prepare work related to SENDIST appeals, focusing on mediation, statutory duties, and Education, Health and Care Plans.
- Promote and conform to DCC Customer Service Standards in all communications.
- Represent the Authority at mediation, following statutory processes and requirements.
Requirements:
- Excellent planning, organisation, and resource management skills.
- Ability to lead and inspire staff, fostering a culture of mutual respect and teamwork.
- Experience in project management and decision making at a senior level.
- Thorough knowledge of relevant legislative acts.
- Strong report writing, analytical, and proofreading skills.
