Location: Remote - candidates based in the South East of the UK would be ideally located

Salary: £30,000-£35,000, depending on experience

Are you an experienced Multimodal Freight Operator looking for a genuinely remote opportunity where you can take ownership of shipments and play an important part in a growing business?

Our client is an established freight forwarding company with an expanding client base. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Multimodal Import & Export Operator to join their team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a knowledgeable freight forwarding professional with experience across air, sea and road freight who enjoys managing shipments from start to finish, building strong relationships and resolving operational challenges.

The position is remote, although candidates based in the South East of the UK would be ideally located.

What you'll do:

As Multimodal Import & Export Operator, you will manage the complete shipment process across air, sea and road freight, ensuring cargo moves efficiently and customers receive a professional, responsive and reliable service.

You will need to be confident working independently, prioritising a busy workload and thinking on your feet when operational issues arise.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Manage air, sea and road freight import and export shipments from initial booking through to final delivery
• Coordinate international and European freight movements
• Make bookings with airlines, shipping lines, hauliers and other service providers
• Prepare, check and process import and export documentation
• Liaise with customers, overseas agents, airlines, shipping lines, hauliers and suppliers
• Obtain rates and prepare accurate customer quotations
• Monitor shipments and provide customers with regular progress updates
• Arrange collections, deliveries and onward transportation
• Support the customs clearance process and ensure all required information is available
• Resolve delays, documentation queries and other operational issues
• Ensure shipment records and internal systems are kept accurate and up to date
• Check supplier costs and support accurate invoicing
• Deliver a high standard of customer service throughout the shipment process

What you need:

• Solid freight forwarding experience
• Strong multimodal import and export knowledge
• Experience across air, sea and road freight
• Experience managing shipments from booking through to final delivery
• A good understanding of shipping documentation, customs requirements and freight procedures
• The ability to work independently within a remote environment
• Excellent organisation and time-management skills
• A proactive approach to troubleshooting and problem-solving
• The ability to think on your feet and respond calmly to changing priorities
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent customer service and relationship-building abilities
