About the Role

Our client, a well-established and rapidly growing freight forwarding company, is looking for an experienced Ocean Export Coordinator to join its specialist recyclables division in Woodford, East London.

This is a mid-level operational position reporting to the Recyclables Manager. You will take ownership of freight forwarding files from start to finish, with the majority of shipments involving FCL ocean exports.

Although previous ocean export or recyclables experience would be beneficial, it is not essential. Applications are welcomed from freight forwarding professionals with experience across other modes who are keen to develop their knowledge within a specialist, market-leading division.

What You'll Do

As Ocean Export Coordinator, you will manage your own shipments from booking through to final delivery, ensuring documentation is accurate, deadlines are achieved and customers receive an excellent level of service.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing freight forwarding files from start to finish.
• Preparing Bills of Lading, shipping instructions, commercial invoices and packing lists.
• Ensuring all import and export documentation is accurate and compliant with relevant regulations.
• Submitting VGM declarations and customs documentation when required.
• Booking containers and shipments with shipping lines, hauliers and consolidators.
• Monitoring vessel schedules, cut-off times and estimated arrival dates.
• Coordinating loading, collection and delivery arrangements with suppliers, depots and customers.
• Providing customers and service partners with regular shipment updates.
• Resolving customer, supplier and operational queries professionally and efficiently.
• Identifying potential delays or problems and escalating them when necessary.
• Proposing practical solutions to maintain continuity of service.
• Supporting the Recyclables Manager with process improvements and operational efficiencies.
• Assisting with digital invoice query resolution.
• Working closely with internal colleagues to maintain a consistently high standard of service.

What You Need

• A minimum of two years' relevant freight forwarding or logistics experience.
• Experience managing freight forwarding shipments from start to finish.
• FCL ocean export experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
• CargoWise experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
• The ability to manage changing priorities within a fast-paced environment.
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your work.
• A positive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• An enquiring mindset, with a genuine desire to understand and improve operational processes.
• A degree in any discipline would be advantageous but is not essential.
