Freight Forwarding Transport Planner / Coordinator

Our client, an established international transport and logistics company, is seeking an experienced and proactive Freight Forwarding Transport Planner / Coordinator to join its busy UK transport operation at London Gateway.
What you'll do:
As Freight Forwarding Transport Planner/ Coordinator a typical day will involve planning and coordinating deliveries and collections to ensure the safe, efficient, and sustainable movement of goods. You will be responsible for analysing traffic patterns and assessing transport needs while maintaining driver and vehicle compliance.
Duties include:
- Organise and plan fleet logistics daily to complete the daily workload.
- Plan deliveries to reduce or avoid late arrivals.
- Liaise with all departments on delivery schedules and planning requirements.
- Update transport spreadsheets.
- Dealing with drivers including vehicle and driver compliance management.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in line with company procedures, customer requirements, and Health & Safety standards.
What you need:
- Previous experience in a transport role.
- Positive work ethic and works collaboratively as part of a team.
- Good geographical knowledge and route-planning skills.
- Sound understanding of drivers' hours regulations and working time directives.
- Knowledge of vehicle and driver compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adaptable and able to respond effectively to changing priorities.
- Proficient in the use of IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A collaborative team player with the ability to build positive working relationships.
