  • Long-term opportunity within a supportive school
  • Weekly pay of £500 - £560

What Will You Be Doing?

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll become an important part of the school team, supporting both teachers and pupils throughout the school day.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Assisting teachers with lessons and classroom activities
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils
  • Helping students with literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum activities

  • Helping prepare classroom resources and learning materials
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Supporting pupils' academic, social and emotional development
  • Helping maintain a safe, inclusive and engaging classroom environment

No two days will necessarily be the same, giving you the opportunity to gain experience across different aspects of school life.

What We're Looking For

This opportunity is aimed at graduates who are serious about exploring a career in education. You'll need:

  • A First, 2:1 or 2:2 degree
  • A degree in any subject — all degree backgrounds will be considered
  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, patient and proactive attitude
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils
  • A willingness to learn from experienced teachers
  • The confidence to get involved and take initiative
  • A genuine ambition to develop a career within education
  • The right to work in the UK on a full-time basis

Previous experience working with children or within a school is beneficial but not essential.

Experience through tutoring, coaching, mentoring, volunteering, youth work or similar roles would also be advantageous.

Above all, we're looking for someone who is enthusiastic, reliable and genuinely wants to make a difference to pupils' lives.

Build Your Experience Before Teacher Training

If teaching is something you're considering after university, gaining classroom experience can be one of the best ways to understand whether it's the right career for you.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you'll have the opportunity to observe experienced teachers, work directly with pupils and develop a realistic understanding of the rewards and challenges of working in education.

The experience you gain could help you take the next step towards teacher training or another education-based career.

If you're ready to put your degree to good use and start building your career in education, we'd love to hear from you.
