Make a meaningful difference to children's communication and development

Are you a qualified Speech and Language Therapist looking for an opportunity to use your specialist skills within an education setting?

A supportive and welcoming school in Stoke-on-Trent (ST5 8JN) is looking for a dedicated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join their team from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to work directly with children and young people, helping them overcome communication difficulties and develop the skills they need to access learning, build relationships and become more confident and independent.

You'll work closely with teachers, SENCOs, support staff and other professionals to provide targeted support and ensure pupils receive a consistent and personalised approach to their communication and learning needs.

What Does the Role Offer?

  • Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
  • Term-time only
  • Long-term opportunity within a supportive school
  • Weekly pay of £500 - £560
  • The opportunity to use your specialist Speech and Language Therapy skills within an education setting
  • Regular collaboration with experienced teachers, SENCOs and school leaders
  • Opportunities to deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions
  • The chance to work with pupils with a range of SEND & communication needs
  • Opportunities to develop and implement individualised communication strategies
  • Experience working as part of a wider education and multidisciplinary team
  • The opportunity to directly influence pupils' communication, confidence and access to learning
  • A chance to further develop your experience working with children and young people
  • A supportive and collaborative professional environment
  • Convenient Stoke-on-Trent (ST5 8JN) location

Your Role

As a Speech and Language Therapist, you'll provide specialist support to pupils who experience difficulties with speech, language, communication and interaction.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Assessing pupils' speech, language and communication needs
  • Identifying individual strengths and areas requiring further development
  • Planning and delivering targeted interventions
  • Providing 1:1 and small-group therapy sessions
  • Supporting pupils with receptive and expressive language difficulties
  • Developing strategies to support communication and interaction
  • Working with pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
  • Helping children overcome communication barriers that may affect their education
  • Monitoring pupil progress and adapting interventions where appropriate
  • Providing teachers and support staff with practical advice and strategies
  • Working closely with the SENCO and wider school team
  • Contributing to individual support plans and pupil development
  • Maintaining appropriate records and documentation
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Supporting children to develop confidence, independence and effective communication skills

You'll have the opportunity to work closely with education professionals, ensuring that communication support is embedded into the wider school environment rather than being limited to individual intervention sessions.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for a qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people. You'll ideally have:

  • A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
  • Appropriate professional registration
  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND
  • Strong knowledge of speech, language and communication development
  • Experience assessing communication needs and planning appropriate interventions
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, empathetic and child-centred approach
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider professional team
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
  • A proactive approach to supporting pupil development
  • The right to work in the UK on a full-time basis

Previous experience working within a school, specialist education setting or paediatric environment would be highly advantageous.
