Graduate Teaching Assistant – Core Academic Subjects

Start Date: September 2026
Pay: £500–£600 per week
Contract: Full-time, term-time
A high-achieving and inclusive secondary school in Barnet is seeking enthusiastic and motivated Graduate Teaching Assistants to join their team from September 2026. Role Overview
As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will contribute to improving student outcomes by delivering targeted academic support and helping to create an engaging and positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of lessons across core academic subjects (English, Maths, and Science).
- Provide one-to-one and small group intervention sessions to help raise attainment.
- Assist teachers with lesson preparation, classroom activities, and resources.
- Support behaviour management in line with school policies.
- Track and report on student progress and engagement.
- Encourage positive learning behaviours, confidence, and independence.
- Support students with a range of abilities, including those with additional learning needs.
Candidate Requirements
- A degree in a relevant subject (or a strong academic background).
- A genuine interest in education and working with young people.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, patient, and adaptable approach.
- Experience in tutoring, mentoring, coaching, or youth work is desirable but not essential.
