Our Client has a requirement for an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, who will be required to work on a permanent basis in Somerset.
Role Purpose:
- Support the delivery of electrical commissioning activities within a major infrastructure project.
- Build successful collaborative relationships with contractors, project delivery teams, site engineering personnel and operational stakeholders.
- Work within a commissioning team to ensure the safe and successful commissioning of electrical systems.
- Primarily support HV, LV, DC or Generator systems, while maintaining the flexibility to work across all electrical disciplines as required.
- Undertake commissioning activities across systems including voltages at 400kV, 10kV, 690VAC, 400VAC, 220VDC and associated control voltages.
Job Role Responsibilities:
- Contribute to team meetings.
- Liaise with designers regarding electrical commissioning requirements.
- Liaise with Project Managers regarding electrical deliverables.
- Accountable to a nominated Commissioning Manager/Senior Engineer within the project team.
- Develop commissioning documentation relating to commissioning testing and system validation activities.
- Contribute to design reviews to ensure plant and system layouts facilitate efficient commissioning.
- Contribute to detailed commissioning planning and take ownership of commissioning test programmes.
- Participate in the preparation and execution of site commissioning activities.
- Supervise contractor commissioning personnel where required to achieve safe and successful commissioning of systems.
- Provide information to assist Commissioning Managers in meeting project objectives and milestones.
- Analyse, verify and validate commissioning results and provide reports summarising commissioning activities.
- Support compliance with nuclear, environmental and industrial safety requirements while maintaining good industry practice and technical excellence.
- Develop commissioning documentation relating specifically to electrical system testing and validation activities.
- Carry out commissioning tests on Electrical Systems in accordance with approved Commissioning Test Procedures.
- Ensure all commissioning documentation, test records and handover certificates are accurately completed and compliant with quality and safety standards.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
- HNC/HND or recognised equivalent qualification in a relevant Engineering discipline.
- Demonstrable experience undertaking fault-finding activities.
- Experience conducting commissioning, return-to-service, operational and maintenance tests.
- Previous experience working within a high-hazard industrial environment.
- Strong technical understanding of electrical systems and commissioning practices.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
Desirable Skills / Qualifications / Experience:
- Degree qualified or equivalent in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
- Good communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
- Delivery focused, with either a proven track record of delivery or a strong delivery mindset.
- Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality-driven cultures.
