Social Worker – Duty and Assessment Team (DAAT)

Pay Rate: £38.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Seven Resourcing is currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join the Duty and Assessment Team (DAAT) within a busy Children’s Services setting in Northamptonshire. This is a fast-paced frontline safeguarding role requiring strong assessment skills, confidence in decision-making, and experience within statutory children’s social work.
The DAAT service acts as the first point of contact for safeguarding concerns and works closely with MASH to progress referrals and ensure timely intervention for children and families.
The Role
As a Social Worker within DAAT, you will be responsible for undertaking high-quality assessments and safeguarding interventions for children and young people. You will manage a varied caseload of Child in Need and Child Protection cases, ensuring statutory timescales and safeguarding thresholds are met.
The team operates at pace, with a strong focus on early intervention, risk management, and multi-agency collaboration.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing Child in Need (CIN) and Child Protection (CP) cases
- Undertaking statutory social work assessments and visits within tight timescales
- Responding to safeguarding referrals from MASH
- Completing home visits and direct work with children and families
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies including police, health, and education
- Attending strategy meetings, case conferences, and multi-agency planning meetings
- Maintaining accurate and timely case recordings
- Ensuring safeguarding thresholds are applied consistently
- Supporting positive outcomes for children and young people through timely intervention
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Minimum 2 years’ experience within DAAT or equivalent statutory children’s safeguarding teams
- Strong experience in Child Protection and Child in Need work
- Confident in high-risk decision making and managing complex caseloads
- Excellent communication, assessment, and report-writing skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced frontline safeguarding environment
