This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced professional to lead as Band 8b Head of Safeguarding within SMH – Nursing in Gloucestershire, UK. The role is ongoing and offers an attractive hourly rate of £44.73. You will be responsible for the professional leadership and operational management of the Trust’s safeguarding team, delivering excellent safeguarding practices across the full spectrum of physical health, mental health, and learning disabilities services throughout the Trust. Based at Edward Jenner Court and operating countywide, you will be at the forefront of safeguarding adults and children in the community.

What you will do

• Board Representation: Represent the Trust across Gloucestershire Safeguarding Adults and Children’s Boards and delivery groups.
• Training Leadership: Lead the development, delivery, and evaluation of safeguarding training programmes for adults and children across the organisation.
• Quality Assurance: Produce high‑quality Trust Board‑level reports including action plans, risk management, and audit data.
• System Integration: Participate in the One Gloucestershire integration project for Health Services safeguarding within the County Integrated Care System.
• PREVENT & Complex Cases: Lead PREVENT‑related work and coordinate multi‑agency collaboration for complex safeguarding cases.
• Operational Management: Manage the safeguarding team operationally, ensuring compliance with statutory guidance and continuous improvement.
• Governance: Chair sub‑committees and oversee implementation of actions arising from serious case reviews and safeguarding audits.
• Culture & Practice: Act as the Trust’s representative in safeguarding discussions, promoting excellence and continuous improvement in safeguarding practice.
