What you will do

• Undertake comprehensive glaucoma assessments including visual field analysis, OCT interpretation, optic nerve evaluation, pachymetry, gonioscopy, and intraocular pressure measurement.
• Manage patients within consultant-led and optometrist-led glaucoma clinics in accordance with locally agreed clinical pathways.
• Identify patients requiring escalation, treatment review, or onward referral to Ophthalmology Consultants.
• Maintain accurate clinical records in line with NHS documentation standards, information governance requirements, and Trust policies.

Person Specification

Qualifications

• Degree in Optometry or recognised equivalent qualification.
• Registration with the General Optical Council (GOC).
• Independent Prescribing Qualification or willingness to undertake training (desirable).
• Higher qualifications in Glaucoma or Professional Certificate/Higher Certificate in Glaucoma (desirable for Band 7).

Registration & Compliance

• Current GOC registration with no restrictions on practice.
• Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
• Understanding of NHS Clinical Governance Frameworks.
• Knowledge of Information Governance, Infection Prevention and Control, Equality Act 2010, and safeguarding responsibilities.

Experience

• Minimum of 4 years experience as a qualified optometrist.
• Advanced proficiency in glaucoma management and laser procedures such as MR and YAG Laser.
