Join us for a rewarding locum opportunity as a Band 6 Learning Disabilities Speech & Language Therapist within Speech & Language Therapy in Liverpool, Merseyside. Earn up to £27.00 per hour on an hourly basis for a 3-month assignment from 1st September 2026 to 27th November 2026. This exciting full-time, community-based role focuses primarily on the dysphagia pathway. What you will do
- Undertake specialist dysphagia assessments and reviews, ensuring individuals receive the highest standard of care.
- Manage a predominantly dysphagia caseload independently, using your expertise to make crucial decisions.
- Complete full episodes of care from assessment through to discharge, providing thorough and compassionate support.
- Develop and document dysphagia management plans to guide the treatment process.
- Provide recommendations and ensure the implementation of effective interventions.
- Review and monitor treatment outcomes in line with clinical standards, adjusting plans as needed to maximise client progress.
- Complete specialist communication assessments and deliver interventions tailored to adults with learning disabilities.
- Liaise with carers, support staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure cohesive and comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate clinical records and governance documentation, upholding the integrity of services provided.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy with HCPC registration.
- Registered member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Relevant postgraduate dysphagia training and experience managing a dysphagia caseload independently.
- Strong report-writing and communication skills with a knack for working within multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience working with adults with learning disabilities and supporting complex communication needs is highly desirable.
