What you will do:

• Perform diagnostic Haematology laboratory testing.
• Conduct Blood Transfusion laboratory testing and investigations.
• Ensure safe and effective transfusion services.
• Validate and report laboratory results accurately.
• Operate and maintain laboratory analysers and equipment.
• Engage in quality assurance and quality control procedures.
• Support blood product management and traceability processes.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
• Comply with UKAS, MHRA, and laboratory standards.
• Participate actively in the laboratory on-call service.

Requirements:

• Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent.
• HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist.
• Experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion settings.
• Competency in both Haematology and Blood Transfusion techniques.
• Proven experience in NHS laboratory environments.
• Independent working capability alongside strong teamwork skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
• Willingness to participate in an on-call rota.

Desirable Requirements:

• Prior experience at Band 6 level.
• Experience in remote or rural NHS laboratories.
• Familiarity with quality management systems.
• Experience in training or supporting junior staff.
