What you will do

• Independently undertake and report a comprehensive range of obstetric ultrasound examinations, including dating, nuchal translucency, anomaly, growth, and wellbeing scans.
• Deliver fetal screening services in accordance with NHS FASP, DQASS, and local Trust protocols.
• Identify and appropriately escalate suspected fetal abnormalities, ensuring timely referral to Fetal Medicine and Consultant-led services.
• Maintain accurate clinical records and produce clear diagnostic reports using Trust information systems.
• Participate in clinical audits, quality assurance programmes, governance activities, and service improvement initiatives.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Undertake and report a comprehensive range of obstetric ultrasound examinations autonomously.
• Identify and escalate suspected fetal abnormalities for timely referral.
• Maintain and update clinical records accurately.
• Contribute to clinical audits and service improvement initiatives.

Person Specification

• A postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound, such as a PgCert, PgDip, MSc, or DMU, or equivalent.
• Relevant healthcare professional registration with the HCPC, NMC, or GMC, as appropriate.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in obstetric ultrasound. FMF accreditation is desirable.
• Current DQASS ID with participation in quality assurance requirements.
• Must have obstetric imaging and foetal screening skills & DQASS ID.
• Thorough knowledge of NHS Fetal Anomaly Screening Programme standards.
• Significant post-qualification experience as an Obstetric Sonographer within an NHS setting, with autonomy in fetal screening and anomaly scanning.
