Assistant General Manager – “Exiting Bar concept in London”
Location: London
Salary: £38,000 to £40,000 basic, plus Tronc
About the Role
I am looking for a high-energy Assistant General Manager to support the General Manager at a busy food and bar venue. With a growing late-night and weekend offer and strong corporate trade during the day, this is a role for someone who loves great hospitality and knows what makes a party work.
You will help run a venue that moves from corporate lunches and office buyouts by day to cocktail bar and DJ-led nights, with weekend brunches that bring in around 100 guests every Saturday. As they build the late-night side of the business, you will play a key part in shaping the atmosphere and the guest experience.
Responsibilities
- Support the General Manager with the day-to-day running of the venue, and cover as Duty Manager when required
- Lead, coach and motivate a team of around 30
- Maintain high standards of service, presentation and compliance throughout the venue
- Drive the late-night bar offer, with a relaxed, cocktail bar “nightcap” style of service, and trading to midnight and occasionally 1am
- Deliver the weekly Saturday brunch, including DJ sets and themed brunch concepts such as R&B-led events
- Create the right atmosphere through music, lighting, service and pacing, and know how to build a great party environment
- Work with DJs, promoters and suppliers to plan and deliver successful events
- Support the daytime corporate and office trade, including private hire and buyouts
- Work with the GM to maximise booking conversion and repeat business
- Build positive working relationships with other traders, resolving queries and keeping communication open
- Support the GM on sales, labor, cost control and stock management
- Look for opportunities to grow bar revenue and increase footfall
About You
- Experience as an Assistant General Manager, Deputy Manager or senior Duty Manager in a busy bar, restaurant or events-led venue
- A genuine interest in late-night, cocktail bar and music-led hospitality
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with bookings and event planning
- Experience of leading larger teams and delivering high service standards under pressure
- Commercial awareness, with a good understanding of bar and venue performance
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to work with traders, suppliers and corporate clients
