What you will do:

  • Hold a reduced caseload of highly complex cases, coordinating detailed assessments, care planning, and effective interventions in line with statutory frameworks.

  • Spearhead safeguarding activities, including Section 47 enquiries and child protection conferences, ensuring the highest standards of care and protection.

  • Lead and mentor Social Workers and ASYE staff, promoting evidence-based practice and providing reflective case consultation.

  • Drive the progression of cases through the Public Law Outline (PLO) and contribute actively to legal planning and court processes.

  • Implement quality assurance measures for assessments, plans, and reports, adhering to the Children Act 1989/2004 and local guidelines.

  • Collaborate with multi-agency partners to deliver cohesive, results-oriented interventions for the benefit of children and their families.

  • Support performance management, audit activities, and continuous service improvements, contributing to Ofsted inspection preparedness.

Experience and Requirements:

  • Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent) with significant post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s social care.

  • Registration with Social Work England, assuring compliance with professional standards.

  • Proven expertise in safeguarding, Public Law Outline (PLO), and multi-agency collaboration.

  • Experience leading complex and high-risk cases with a strong track record in supervision and case mentorship.

  • Demonstrated capability in court work, report writing, and service improvement initiatives.
