Job Title: Social Worker – Family Safeguarding Team
Location: Cambridge (Hybrid working – 2 to 3 days per week in the office)
Salary: £39.00 per hour
Salary Type: Hourly
Contract Type: Full Time, Ongoing (Locum)
Role Overview:
An opportunity has arisen for a Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team in Cambridge. This is a full-time locum role, offering flexibility through hybrid working and the chance to make a meaningful difference in safeguarding children and supporting families. Applicants must have court experience and prior work within a Family Safeguarding team.
Key Responsibilities:

Carry out statutory visits including CIN (Children in Need), CP (Child Protection) and CIC (Children in Care).

Chair CIN and Core Group meetings, ensuring effective planning and communication.

Manage a caseload covering CIN, CP and CIC cases, with potential involvement in PLO (Public Law Outline) and S31 Care Proceedings.

Prepare and complete court reports, risk assessments and parenting assessments in line with statutory standards.

Attend court, supported by a Senior Practitioner or Team Manager.

Contribute to the duty rota to ensure effective team collaboration.

Attend ICPC (Initial Child Protection Conference) and RCPC (Review Child Protection Conference) and provide detailed written reports.

Assess and manage risks effectively, implementing robust action plans.
Candidate Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker with registration to Social Work England (SWE).

Previous experience within a Family Safeguarding Team.

Proven court experience including preparation of court reports and proceedings.

Strong assessment, risk management and report-writing skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-agency environment.
