Our Client requires an Instrument Designer who will be required to work on a staff basis in Macclesfield.

Where You'll Be Working

Our client helps their clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance, and manage demand for future generations. They enhance and extend asset life, ensuring compliance with water quality and environmental standards. They’re problem solvers with over 140 years of combined experience in engineering and infrastructure.

This role will join one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. They support clients in the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear, and food and beverage industries to deliver next-generation, value-added engineering solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

As a key part of their local projects team, you'll provide expert Electrical & Instrument Design and Consulting Services.

Their current portfolio features a variety of exciting and impactful projects such as:

  • Extensive flow and pressure monitoring project
  • Upgrade of effluent plant to PLC control
  • Upgrade of process plant to DCS

You'll be part of the Multi-Discipline Design Team, working closely with the Project Manager, ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of pharmaceutical projects. This involves understanding customer needs, estimating resources, producing reports and designs, and ensuring projects meet time, quality, and cost goals. You'll also be responsible for liaising with subcontractors, coordinating with other disciplines like Mechanical, Process, HVAC, and Civil, and overseeing essential design deliverables.

What You'll Bring

  • Strong background in electrical installation design, ideally within the pharmaceutical sector
  • Solid understanding of industry best practices and regulatory standards
  • Qualifications such as HNC or Degree in Engineering; professional memberships are a plus
  • Experience with ATEX Hazardous Area design, Functional Safety (IEC 61508/61511), and CDM Regulations 2015
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD LT and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Comfortable working in multi-discipline teams and across various project stages
