What you will do:
- Provide professional leadership and day-to-day management of a team of Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Family Support Workers.
- Ensure effective implementation of policies and procedures relating to child safeguarding, family support, and statutory assessments.
- Oversee and quality assure all aspects of casework, ensuring timely and effective interventions and permanency planning.
- Manage performance through supervision, appraisal, case audits, and reflective practice to maintain high professional standards.
- Lead on complex cases, offering expert advice, guidance, and decision-making in line with statutory responsibilities.
- Collaborate with partner agencies including health, education, police, and legal services to achieve better outcomes for children and families.
- Chair key meetings such as strategy discussions, legal gateway panels, and permanency planning meetings as appropriate.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring that the service is Ofsted-ready and aligned with the council’s improvement plans.
- Manage budgets, resources, and staff deployment effectively.
- Contribute to service planning, inspection readiness, workforce development, and quality assurance.
