You will serve as both an Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) and a Conference Chair, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children across Staffordshire and beyond.

What you will do:

  • Chair in-person child protection conferences and statutory child in care reviews, ensuring every meeting is child-centred and focused on achievable plans.

  • Travel to meet children as per statutory guidance, ensuring their voices are at the forefront of decision-making processes.

  • Analyse and evaluate information effectively with superb written and oral communication skills; negotiate with colleagues to drive the best outcomes for children.

  • Challenge and scrutinise Local Authority actions, using restorative practice and the escalation process to enhance planning and outcome quality.

  • Monitor children in care through oversight and scrutiny of their Education Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), Personal Education Plans (PEPs), and Health Assessments.

  • Contribute to quality assurance processes, ensuring adherence to service and inter-agency standards, policies, and procedures.
