What You Will Do

• Chair statutory child protection reviews and reviews for children in care.

• Monitor the progress of care plans and ensure they are outcome-focused and in the best interests of each child.

• Provide independent oversight and critical challenge to improve the quality of services.

• Offer guidance and resolution where concerns arise, ensuring children’s voices are central to all decision-making.

• Maintain compliance with legislation, policy, and best practice frameworks.

• Collaborate with social workers, managers, and multi-agency teams to safeguard and promote children’s welfare.

Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker, registered with Social Work England.

• Extensive post-qualifying experience in children’s social care, ideally as an IRO or in child protection roles.

• In-depth understanding of the Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations, and relevant statutory guidance.

• Strong communication, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
