Key Responsibilities

• Conduct specialist assessments and deliver mental health interventions tailored for children with learning disabilities.

• Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based care plans and behavioural strategies.

• Work closely with families, schools, social workers, psychologists, and health professionals to ensure integrated care.

• Perform clinical risk assessments to ensure safety and wellbeing.

• Provide psychoeducation and support to families and professionals involved in the child’s care.

• Contribute to multi-agency reviews and service improvement projects.

• Support transition planning to adult services for young people approaching adulthood.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse – RNLD or RMN with valid NMC registration.

• Substantial post-registration experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities.

• Strong understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD).

• Experience managing challenging behaviours and communication difficulties.

• Demonstrated experience of multi-agency working and safeguarding procedures.

• Full UK driving licence (essential for community visits).

Desirable Skills

• Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

• Experience working within SEND frameworks, including EHCP processes.

• Understanding of Looked After Children (LAC) pathways and safeguarding complexities.
