Key Responsibilities

Conduct specialist assessments and deliver mental health interventions tailored for children with learning disabilities.

Develop and implement individualised, evidence-based care plans and behavioural strategies.

Work closely with families, schools, social workers, psychologists, and health professionals to ensure integrated care.

Perform clinical risk assessments to ensure safety and wellbeing.
-
Provide psychoeducation and support to families and professionals involved in the child’s care.

Contribute to multi-agency reviews and service improvement projects.

Support transition planning to adult services for young people approaching adulthood.
Requirements
-
Registered Nurse – RNLD or RMN with valid NMC registration.

Substantial post-registration experience working with children or young people with learning disabilities.

Strong understanding of neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., autism, ADHD).

Experience managing challenging behaviours and communication difficulties.

Demonstrated experience of multi-agency working and safeguarding procedures.

Full UK driving licence (essential for community visits).
Desirable Skills

Training in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) or Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

Experience working within SEND frameworks, including EHCP processes.

Understanding of Looked After Children (LAC) pathways and safeguarding complexities.
