Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct face-to-face mobility assessments to evaluate how physical conditions impact an applicant’s ability to walk.

  • Perform desktop-based reviews using submitted medical evidence and reports to assess eligibility against Department for Transport (DfT) guidelines.

  • Examine clinical documentation, including GP letters, prescription histories, and diagnostic reports.

  • Apply DfT eligibility criteria to make professional recommendations on Blue Badge entitlement.

  • Collaborate with GPs, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals to gather supplemental clinical insight.

  • Liaise with local councils and assessment centres to ensure a fair, consistent, and timely assessment process.

  • Maintain high-quality records and prepare comprehensive written reports summarising assessment outcomes.


Candidate Profile

  • Professional Registration: Registered Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in mobility or functional assessments, preferably in a local authority or disability services setting.

  • Knowledge: Familiarity with the Care Act 2014 and understanding of DfT Blue Badge criteria.

  • Skills: Excellent clinical reasoning, strong communication, and report-writing skills; comfortable with both autonomous decision-making and collaborative work.
