Graduate Teaching Assistant

Russell Group Graduates Wanted
Location: Brentford, West London
Start Date: September 2025
Pay: Minimum £550 per week
Contract: Full-time, Term-Time Only (One Academic Year)

Are you a recent Russell Group graduate with a passion for education?

Are you considering a career in teaching but want hands-on experience first?

Do you want to make a real difference in the lives of young people who need extra support?

If you answered yes to the above, this could be the perfect stepping stone for your teaching career.

About the Role:

We are seeking enthusiastic, driven and academically strong graduates to work as Graduate Teaching Assistants at an outstanding secondary school in Brentford, West London. Starting in September 2025, this full-time role will give you the opportunity to work closely with students across Key Stages 3 and 4, particularly those who are currently working below their expected attainment levels.

You will support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups, helping to close learning gaps and build confidence. You’ll gain valuable classroom experience, develop essential behaviour management skills, and learn how to deliver effective interventions — all under the guidance of experienced teachers and mentors.

This is an ideal opportunity for graduates planning to apply for teacher training courses (such as PGCE, School Direct or Teach First) in the near future.

The School:

Located in the vibrant community of Brentford, this is a high-achieving, mixed secondary school rated Outstanding by Ofsted. The school boasts:

  • Exceptional GCSE and A-Level results, regularly placing above national averages.
  • A strong ethos of inclusion, discipline, and academic ambition.
  • State-of-the-art facilities, including modern science labs, a newly refurbished library, a fully equipped theatre space, and excellent sports amenities.
  • A forward-thinking leadership team that values professional development and offers robust support for graduate staff.

The school has a warm and welcoming culture with a strong record of supporting aspiring teachers on their journey into the profession. Many previous Graduate TAs have gone on to gain teacher training places at leading universities or through the school’s own school-based training routes.

Requirements:

  • A 2:1 or above from a Russell Group university (any subject considered)
  • A genuine interest in working with young people and a possible career in education
  • Strong communication skills, resilience, and a positive attitude
  • Right to work in the UK for the full duration of the academic year

If you're ready to start your journey toward becoming a teacher — while making a tangible difference every day — we’d love to hear from you.

Apply now with your CV and a short cover letter outlining your interest in education.
