Are you a Health & Safety Advisor looking for a new role? A water sector leading solutions provider is seeking an accomplished Senior Health & Safety Advisor to join their SHEQ team, supporting the delivery of a high-profile infrastructure programme within the Severn Trent Region.
Based out of their Derby office, this Senior Health & Safety Advisor role is integral to ensuring the successful implementation of robust health and safety practices on a technically complex and multidisciplinary construction project.
The scheme involves significant civil, mechanical, and electrical engineering works, and the successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a strong safety culture, driving compliance, and supporting the wider cultural transformation programme across the project.
Key Responsibilities: Senior Health & Safety Advisor
- Provide expert leadership and guidance in the application of SHEQ procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and best practice.
- Embed health and safety into all project phases by working collaboratively with the site management team, subcontractors, and client representatives.
- Champion a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture throughout the project lifecycle.
- Facilitate and support internal and external audits, as well as undertake thorough accident and incident investigations.
- Support the development, implementation, and continual improvement of SHEQ policies, management systems, and risk controls.
- Collaborate closely with project leadership to integrate SHEQ into operational planning and decision-making.
- Analyse performance metrics, identify trends, and implement targeted interventions to drive continuous improvement.
- Promote sustainable health and safety solutions aligned with project and company objectives.
- Contribute to the maintenance and improvement of externally certified SHEQ management systems.
Candidate Profile: Senior Health & Safety Advisor
- Significant experience in a senior health and safety advisory role within complex construction environments, ideally involving multidisciplinary teams and major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and risk management principles.
- Demonstrable experience building and maintaining collaborative relationships with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.
- Proven ability to analyse and interpret large data sets, identify patterns, and communicate findings effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to influence at senior levels.
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills, with the ability to escalate concerns appropriately.
- Highly organised with strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to travel within the region as required.
