What you will do:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the workshop, ensuring all maintenance and inspections are timely and in compliance with VOSA regulations.
  • Lead a team of 14 operational staff, overseeing the delivery of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
  • Handle a service budget of £750k, ensuring efficient delivery of services while meeting financial targets.
  • Implement safety policies and procedures, promoting a safe work environment and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards.
  • Ensure a customer-focused service delivery, maintaining high standards and timely completion of work.
  • Uphold and enhance workshop productivity to ensure alignment with commercial garages.
  • Develop and manage commercial services, including MOT testing and repairs, to generate income.
  • Liaise with clients and customers to schedule and deliver vehicle maintenance and inspections.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all workshop activities and ensure quality control.

Requirements:

  • GCSE Grade A* - C (9-4) in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Vehicle technician qualification or equivalent experience managing a vehicle workshop.
  • IOSH qualification or equivalent in Health and Safety.
  • Full UK driving licence and comprehensive understanding of Road Transport Law.
  • Proven experience in managing MOT testing and compliance with VOSA regulations.
  • Experience in managing commercial services and successful team leadership.

Essential experience:

  • Proven track record in delivering Customer Service Excellence.
  • Experience leading and managing teams, with a strong grasp of resource and budget management.
  • Familiarity with ICT systems, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Experience in performance and change management, as well as strategic planning within resource constraints.
