Supervising Social Worker – Fostering (Children’s Services)
Location: Barnstaple, North Devon
Pay Rate: Up to £38 per hour
Contract Type: Temporary
Hours: Full-time – 37 hours per week
Start Date: 18th May 2026
Seven Resourcing are currently recruiting for an experienced Supervising Social Worker to join a dedicated Fostering, Supervision & Support team in North Devon. This is a rewarding opportunity to support foster carers and help ensure children experience safe, stable, and nurturing placements.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for providing ongoing supervision, guidance, and support to foster carers, ensuring all placements meet the highest standards of care. Working in line with fostering regulations and national standards, you’ll play a key role in maintaining quality placements and improving outcomes for children in care.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support foster carers to ensure safe and stable placements
- Conduct unannounced visits and complete annual foster carer reviews
- Participate in quality assurance processes to maintain service standards
- Deliver and support training for prospective and existing foster carers
- Ensure compliance with Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011 and National Minimum Standards
- Promote best practice in fostering and safeguarding
- Maintain accurate, timely records and reports
- Travel across the South Fostering area as required
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with valid Social Work England registration
- Completion of ASYE and strong post-qualification experience in children’s services
- Experience within fostering services or transferable skills from a related role
- In-depth understanding of fostering legislation and safeguarding frameworks
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Excellent organisation, time management, and report writing ability
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Working Arrangements
This is primarily an office and community-based role, with some flexibility for home working depending on service needs. You must be available to visit children and foster carers as required.
