What you will do:

Screen and respond to incoming referrals, applying local threshold criteria to determine suitable pathways such as Early Help or Child in Need.

Undertake statutory assessments under Section 17 and Section 47 of the Children Act 1989, ensuring they are completed within the required timescales.

Participate in strategy discussions and multi-agency safeguarding processes with Police, Health, and partners to make collaborative decisions.

Conduct direct work with children and families to evaluate risk, gather necessary information, and aid safeguarding judgments.

Prepare clear, analytical reports and maintain accurate case records in accordance with statutory and local authority standards.

Contribute actively to the duty rota, addressing urgent safeguarding concerns and facilitating timely interventions when needed.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
-
Must hold a Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent)

Completed ASYE or have post-qualifying experience in children’s social care
Registration & Compliance:
-
Registered with Social Work England
-
Strong working knowledge of relevant acts and frameworks including the Children Act 1989/2004
Key Skills:

Strong assessment and analytical skills

Excellent multi-agency communication abilities
Experience:
-
Prior experience in Duty, MASH, or Referral & Assessment teams

Experience handling tasks within statutory frameworks and children’s services procedures
