What you will do:
- Assist people to resolve major difficulties in their lives and enhance their independence and coping skills.
- Work within current legislation and council policy to assess, commission, and review services for a specific client group.
- Collaborate within the statutory guidance framework to protect those at risk or vulnerable.
- Develop systems to ensure quality of service across the city and identify individuals particularly at risk.
- Empower clients to express their needs and contribute to service planning.
- Enable individuals, families, and communities to make informed decisions for improved service planning.
- Assess needs, risks, and options considering legal and other requirements, including child protection.
- Manage and prioritise workload responsibly using professional judgement.
- Contribute to the development of multi-agency approaches to enhance service delivery.
Job Specific Requirements:
1. Review and update knowledge of legal, policy, and procedural frameworks demonstrating professional competence as set out in the Code of Practice for Social Workers.
2. Support individuals and carers in enhancing their independence.
3. Prepare and participate in decision-making forums effectively managing supervision.
4. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of existing systems while working positively with colleagues in the statutory and independent sectors.
Requirements of the Social Worker:
- Degree or equivalent in social work.
- Current Social Care Wales registration.
- Significant frontline experience in Social Services within the UK as a qualified Social Worker.
- Experience working with adults requiring mental health support services.
- Experience in supervising staff is advantageous.
