What You Will Do

  • Carry out detailed assessments and provide direct support to children and families involved in Child Protection, Child in Need, and Court proceedings.

  • Manage a caseload of complex and high-risk cases, meeting statutory requirements and delivering best practice interventions.

  • Lead investigations into allegations of abuse, ensuring robust safety planning and timely actions to keep children safe.

  • Work closely with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated, effective safeguarding responses.

  • Build meaningful, trust-based relationships with children and families using a strengths-based, restorative practice approach.

  • Prepare high-quality reports, care plans, and court documentation, and represent the local authority in family court.

  • Promote inclusion, cultural awareness, and anti-discriminatory practice in all work.


Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Social Work (or equivalent).

  • Registration with Social Work England.

  • Experience within statutory children’s social care, particularly in safeguarding and child protection.

  • Understanding or willingness to learn the Signs of Safety practice model.

  • Strong assessment, communication, and decision-making skills.
