Join us as a Social Worker in the Adults Locality Team in Gateshead UK and earn a rewarding £24.97 hourly in this ongoing role. We are searching for an experienced individual, at least two years post-qualification, to join our busy locality team. You will play a vital role in providing high-quality, strengths-based assessment and support to adults, ensuring they remain involved, have choice, and maintain independence in line with Gateshead's Thrive agenda and the Social Work England Professional Standards.

What you will do:
- Undertake a variety of assessments with adults and carers, from initial to complex, in community, hospital, and residential settings to determine need levels in accordance with the Care Act 2014.
- Conduct mental capacity, best interest, and risk assessments in alignment with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 when necessary.
- Carry an active caseload suitable for your area of work and skill level, adhering to the Professional Capabilities Framework and the Local Authority's policies.
- Review cases regularly to confirm continued eligibility for services and appropriateness of resources provided by the Local Authority.
- Participate in duty functions, tackling urgent referrals as required.
- Identify care packages that meet the needs of adults and caregivers and ensure budget compliance by promoting Direct Payments and Self-Directed Support.
- Chair meetings such as case conferences and safeguarding meetings as directed.
- Prepare and present reports for various settings, including Court of Protection and Safeguarding Adult enquiries.
- Pursue mandatory and other training as required by the Local Authority, as well as any additional training identified by your Line Manager.
- Contribute to the development of fellow social workers, including students and newly qualified individuals.
- Work effectively with other agencies and professionals, embodying professionalism in every interaction and maintaining adherence to Social Work England codes and Local Authority requirements.
- Always follow health and safety responsibilities in accordance with council policies, and remain flexible to work across teams and locations outside standard hours if needed.
