What you will do:
- Lead and mentor a team of Social Workers and support staff, providing line management, supervision, and professional leadership.
- Oversee the assessments, pathway plans, and care planning, ensuring they meet statutory requirements and are of the highest quality.
- Uphold robust safeguarding practices according to local and national frameworks, addressing any risks related to exploitation and trafficking.
- Monitor team performance against key targets, driving continuous improvement and adherence to Birmingham Children’s Trust standards.
- Collaborate with multi-agency partners, including immigration services, health, education, legal services, and voluntary organisations, to ensure the well-being of all UASC.
Person Specification:
Qualifications:
- Qualified Social Worker with a recognised Social Work degree or equivalent.
- Evidence of post-qualifying training relevant to children’s services.
Registration & Compliance:
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Knowledgeable about the Children Act 1989/2004, Care Leavers (England) Regulations, and statutory guidance for looked after children.
- Understanding of asylum and immigration legislation affecting UASC.
Experience:
- Significant post-qualification experience within children’s social care, specifically within Children in Care or UASC services.
- Proven experience in managing or supervising frontline social work staff.
- Experience in Ofsted-regulated environments and inspection frameworks.
- A track record of delivering service improvements and maintaining high practice standards.
