What you will do:

  • Lead and manage a team of social workers responsible for initial assessments and safeguarding interventions.

  • Oversee referrals and assessments, including Child in Need (Section 17) and Child Protection (Section 47) processes.

  • Ensure timely and high-quality statutory assessments, care planning, and decision-making.

  • Provide supervision, performance management, and professional development to team members.

  • Chair and contribute to strategy discussions, case conferences, and multi-agency safeguarding meetings.

Person Specification:

  • Degree in Social Work (BA/MA or equivalent) with evidence of continued professional development.

  • Management or leadership qualification desirable but not essential.

  • Registered with Social Work England with strong knowledge of legislation including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, and Working Together to Safeguard Children.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance required.
