Role Overview:
As an Advanced Social Work Practitioner within the Problem Solving Court Team, you will support families engaged in public law proceedings through intensive, strengths-based, and evidence-informed interventions. The role combines complex casework, court-focused practice, and professional leadership, working closely with the judiciary and partner agencies to reduce repeat care proceedings and improve long-term outcomes for children.

What You Will Do:

  • Hold a complex caseload of families involved in Problem Solving Court proceedings.

  • Complete high-quality assessments and deliver targeted interventions addressing substance misuse, domestic abuse, mental health, and parenting capacity.

  • Work closely with the judiciary, legal professionals, and specialist services to support problem-solving approaches within care proceedings.

  • Prepare and present clear, analytical, and timely reports for court hearings and reviews.

Practice Leadership & Quality Assurance:

  • Provide advanced practice guidance, mentoring, and support to Social Workers within the court setting and wider safeguarding services.

  • Model high-quality, trauma-informed, and evidence-based social work practice.

  • Support quality assurance through case audits, reflective discussions, and learning reviews.

Multi-Agency & Partnership Working:

  • Work collaboratively with legal services, CAFCASS, health professionals, substance misuse services, domestic abuse services, and other key partners.

  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary planning, review meetings, and coordinated intervention plans.

Service Development & Innovation:

  • Contribute to the development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of Problem Solving Court approaches.

  • Support data collection, learning, and reporting to inform service development and improve outcomes.

Person Specification / Requirements:

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW).

  • Registration with Social Work England (SWE) is mandatory.

Experience:

  • Extensive post-qualifying experience in Children’s Social Care.

  • Significant experience in court work and care proceedings.

  • Proven experience working with families facing multiple and complex challenges.

  • Experience in a senior or advanced practitioner role is desirable.
