Role Overview / Job Summary:
As a Social Worker within the Fostering Supervisory & Support Team, you will provide supervision, guidance, and development support to foster carers. The role focuses on placement stability, safeguarding, and achieving the best possible outcomes for children and young people in foster care. You will work closely with children’s social workers, fostering colleagues, and partner agencies to ensure carers are well supported and confident in meeting children’s needs.
What you will do:

Provide regular supervision and ongoing support to approved foster carers.

Complete annual foster carer reviews and prepare reports for the Fostering Panel.

Support foster carers to build resilience and confidence in managing children’s needs.

Monitor placements to ensure children are safe and their welfare needs are met.

Respond effectively to safeguarding concerns, allegations, and complaints.

Promote placement stability and work proactively to prevent placement breakdowns.

Contribute to placement matching and care planning processes.

Offer guidance to foster carers on contact arrangements, behaviour management, and emotional wellbeing.

Work collaboratively with children’s social workers, education, health services, and partner agencies.

Attend and contribute to LAC reviews and professional meetings.

Maintain high-quality case records in line with fostering standards and statutory requirements.

Participate fully in supervision, training, and continuous professional development.
Person Specification / Requirements:

Degree in Social Work (BA / MA / DipSW).

Registration with Social Work England (SWE) is mandatory.

Post-qualifying experience in Children’s Social Care.

Experience working with Looked After Children and/or fostering services is desirable.

Strong knowledge of safeguarding processes and managing complex family dynamics.
