What you will do:

• Manage a complex caseload of children, young people, and families within the locality service.

• Undertake assessments, care planning, reviews, and safeguarding investigations in accordance with statutory requirements.

• Lead and manage Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (LAC) cases.

• Complete statutory visits, risk assessments, court reports, and other key documentation.

• Develop, implement, and review outcome-focused care and support plans.

• Work collaboratively with education, health services, police, voluntary organisations, and other partner agencies.

• Chair and contribute to professional meetings, reviews, and case conferences.

• Provide mentoring, support, and guidance to newly qualified and less experienced social workers.

• Maintain accurate, timely, and high-quality case recordings in line with legislation, policies, and professional standards.

• Promote the safety, welfare, wellbeing, and long-term outcomes of children and young people.

Person Specification:

• Current Social Work England registration.

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work.

• Significant post-qualification experience within Children's Social Care.

• Experience managing complex safeguarding, Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children cases.

• Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989/2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and associated legislation.

• Excellent assessment, report writing, analysis, and case management skills.

• Experience working effectively within multidisciplinary and multi-agency environments.

• Strong communication, organisational, and decision-making abilities.

• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or the ability to travel across the locality as required.

Desirable:

• Experience supervising, mentoring, or supporting other social workers.

• Court work experience, including giving evidence in legal proceedings.

• Knowledge of Signs of Safety and other strengths-based practice models.

• Experience using electronic case management systems such as Liquidlogic.
