Overview

Durham County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Practitioner to join its Safeguarding Team within Children’s Services. This ongoing role offers an hourly rate of £32.73 and provides flexibility with both part-time and full-time hours. Operating within a hybrid model, the position supports a balanced approach to work while playing a crucial role in safeguarding vulnerable children and supporting families across the region.

Role Responsibilities

  • Carry out comprehensive Child and Family assessments to gain a full understanding of each case.

  • Chair core group and Child in Need meetings, providing leadership, structure, and clear direction.

  • Prepare detailed reports, plans, and case documentation to ensure children’s needs and welfare remain at the forefront.

  • Attend Pre-Proceedings meetings and present evidence for court proceedings in compliance with legal standards.

  • Work closely with children and families subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, Pre-Proceedings, and court interventions.

  • Undertake additional social work duties as delegated by management, contributing effectively to the safeguarding service.
