Senior Civil Engineer in Plymouth, Devon

Drive the successful delivery of complex infrastructure projects in a highly regulated environment, providing technical leadership from design assurance through to construction support.

Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Civil Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Plymouth.

Role Purpose:

• Lead civil engineering activities across complex infrastructure projects.
• Provide technical leadership throughout project delivery.
• Support project optioneering and technical decision-making.
• Ensure engineering activities are delivered in accordance with project requirements and industry standards.
• Act as a key technical interface between contractors, designers and project stakeholders.
• Support construction, commissioning and decommissioning activities where required.

Job Role Responsibilities:

• Lead civil engineering activities across complex infrastructure projects.
• Manage engineering support throughout project delivery.
• Support project optioneering and technical decision-making.
• Review and approve engineering designs, drawings and technical documentation.
• Respond to Technical Queries (TQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
• Manage detailed design activities and ensure compliance with project standards.
• Undertake technical assessment and approval of contractor work instructions, method statements and risk assessments.
• Provide technical supervision during construction and deconstruction activities.
• Support commissioning and decommissioning activities where required.
• Work closely with contractors, designers and wider project stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, Security and Quality requirements.
• Contribute to technical knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

• Significant experience delivering civil engineering solutions on complex infrastructure projects.
• Demonstrable experience in design assurance and technical governance.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Experience managing engineering inputs throughout the project lifecycle.
• Background within heavily regulated environments.
• Experience reviewing and approving engineering documentation and design packages.
• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a relevant STEM discipline.
• Active SC Clearance.
• UK National.
• Demonstrable technical competence and relevant industry experience.
