Are you a passionate and dedicated Qualified Teacher looking to make a genuine difference in the lives of autistic children and young people?
Do you thrive in an environment where teaching is highly personalised, relationship-focused, and designed around the individual strengths, interests, and learning needs of every pupil?
Would you like to join a specialist setting that places communication, wellbeing, independence, and preparation for adulthood at the heart of its curriculum, whilst benefiting from the support of experienced therapists and multidisciplinary professionals?
A highly regarded specialist school in Rotherham is seeking an enthusiastic and committed SEN Teacher to join its dedicated team on a full-time, permanent basis.
The school supports autistic children and young people with a range of additional needs, providing a highly personalised educational experience that enables every pupil to achieve their individual potential. Staff work collaboratively to create engaging learning opportunities that develop academic achievement, communication skills, emotional regulation, independence, and confidence.
This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who enjoys adapting learning to meet diverse needs and believes that every young person deserves an education that is meaningful, motivating, and tailored to their individual learning profile.
The Role
As a Teacher, you will be responsible for planning and delivering highly personalised learning programmes for autistic pupils, supporting their academic, social, emotional, and personal development.
You will work closely with Learning Support Assistants, families, therapists, and other professionals to ensure pupils receive the highest quality educational experience and are supported to achieve their EHCP outcomes.
You will create a positive, structured, and nurturing classroom environment where pupils can develop the skills, confidence, and independence needed for success both within school and beyond.
Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum
• Adapt learning to meet a range of abilities, communication styles, and individual learning needs
• Support pupils in achieving personal learning goals and EHCP outcomes
• Monitor, assess, record, and report on pupil progress
• Create structured learning environments that promote engagement and positive behaviour
• Develop pupils' communication, social interaction, independence, and life skills
• Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants to maximise pupil outcomes
• Contribute to Annual Reviews, target setting, and pupil progress meetings
• Foster positive and productive relationships with parents and carers
• Work alongside therapists and specialist professionals to support pupil development
• Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for all pupils
• Contribute to whole-school development and continuous improvement initiatives

• Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
• Experience delivering differentiated and personalised learning
• Excellent communication and organisational abilities
• A flexible, resilient, and patient approach
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil welfare
• Experience working within SEND settings is desirable but not essential
• Applications are welcomed from both experienced SEN Teachers and mainstream teachers with a strong interest in specialist education
Why Join This School?
This is an opportunity to join a well-established and highly respected specialist school where teaching is genuinely centred around the individual child.
Rather than delivering a one-size-fits-all curriculum, teachers are encouraged to adapt their practice around each pupil's strengths, interests, communication needs, and developmental profile.
You will be part of a supportive and collaborative environment where staff are committed to helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally whilst becoming as independent and confident as possible.
The school places a strong emphasis on professional development and offers excellent opportunities to further develop specialist autism and SEND knowledge.
This role would suit a teacher looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity where they can build meaningful relationships with pupils and make a lasting difference to their future outcomes.
