Working closely with the Head of English, you will play a key role in shaping curriculum development, driving academic excellence, and contributing to the strategic leadership of a high-performing department.

The Role

As Second in Charge of English, you will:

• Support the leadership and management of a successful English department.
• Deliver engaging and inspiring English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5.
• Drive improvements in teaching, learning, and student outcomes.
• Mentor and support colleagues, including ECTs and developing teachers.
• Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental innovation.
• Help foster a culture of high expectations and academic success.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful applicant will:

• Hold QTS and a relevant English qualification.
• Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with a proven track record of strong student outcomes.
• Have the ambition and leadership potential to support and develop a successful department.
• Be passionate about literature, language, and literacy across the curriculum.
• Demonstrate excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
